I chose my other representative as Patrick Meehan. He is a representative for Pennsylvania(7th Congressional District) and he is a republican. I am following him because I wanted to get to know him more because he is my nominator for the United States Air Force Academy. he is currently serving for 2011 to 2012.
Patrick Meehan has sponsored 2 bills since Jan 5, 2011 of which 2 haven't made it out of committee and none were successfully enacted. Meehan has co-sponsored 67 bills during the same time period.
Common Good
The idea of common good derived from ancient greek and many philosophers. it can be defind as "certain general conditions that are...equally to everyone's advantage." The "common good" has also been defined as "the sum of these conditions of social life which allow social groups and their individual members relatively thorough and ready access to their own fulfillment,
The reading portrays examples about the common good where everyone in a country works together to achieve wellness and satisfaction for them all together, and achieve a common goal and thoughts. This jumped out to me because it is similar to the ideas of communism. North Korea's belief is that people cooprerate together for the welfare of their country and leader. However, world is not perfect. There are flaws and faults. Therefore the idea of common good unfortunately does not accord our world and society. For example, North Korea is enforcing an idea similar to the common good and the country is one of the worst living qualities and oppression. James Madison would support this perspective because he created the Federalist no.10. James Madison's main idea and purpose of creating the document was becuase he believed that there would always be factions and differences in people in our society. He did not expect our nation to be perfect. Although if the common good is not realistic, a government should aim for it.

Health Care Discussion
As I lived my childhood in South Korea, i have experience both South Korea's health care systems and the U.S's health care systems. I got my treatments for my brain edma and went through MRI, CAT and all other medical procedures I dont recall. However few months later when my parents got the bill they were shocked, and so was I. Even with our insurance, the hospital bill was astronomically over priced compared to korea's cost for medical care. Fortunately we were able to afford it. However there are large population in our country who are financially unable to afford their hospital bills. This made me realize that our government needs to improve the medical care and aid and lower the prices of medical bills.
In my research, I found that The U.S. Census Bureau reported that a record 50.7 million residents (which includes 9.9 million non-citizens) or 16.7% of the population were uninsured in 2009. Also U.S pays the most per person for healthcare. This report proves that our country's health care costs are too high, resulting in more people not insured because of the cost. The first step to improve our healthcare system is to pass a bill to set laws and enforce it, so I read about some of Obama's health care bills since he is currently our president. He stated that his bill makes insurance more affordable by providing the largest middle class tax cut for health care in history, reducing premium costs for tens of millions of families and small business owners who are priced out of coverage today. This is especially a crucial factor because the middle class families and small business owners take up our majority of populations. Also I can relate to it because a member of my family has been unemployed due to closure of the company. She is looking for a new job but she needs the same health care and benefits that she had from the previous job.
Next, This helps over 32 million Americans afford health care who do not get it today – and makes coverage more affordable for many more. Under the plan, 95% of Americans will be insured. It puts our budget and economy on a more stable path by reducing the deficit by more than $100 billion over the next ten years – and more than $1 trillion over the second decade. This will help the government put the money for other important uses.
Sure, all of these facts and improvements sound good on paper. My question and concern is if it is practical and can be efficient and be implemented, and bring the congress to pass it. There are various cons of the system. I could careless if Obama passes the bill or the next president passes it, I just want a new health care system to be passed and improved by all means before it is too late.

James Madison and Faction
According James Madison "faction" is "a majority or a minority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adversed to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community."
He believes that many factions would hinder the stability and security of the government because there would be conflicts.
-What are pros of factions
-what are cons of factions
-what are some affects of factions
-what are some causes of factions
-if a faction becomes too powerful, what would happen to the government?
My definition is an organized, dissenting group with people sharing common ideas within a larger one in politics.
The role of faction of today is very influential in many aspects of our everyday lives. In the U.S government the largets factions are the democrats and the republicans. these two factions represent ideas, values, decisions, goals and purposes of different people. and many citizens can find their identity in politics between democrats and republicans. It also helps to prevent radical factions from rising because the democrats and republicans are the major factions in the gov't

Classmates' Federalist 51 post [Reply]
Dylan Hewitt - Why is it so important to split power into three different parts?
-Many accounts in history and society portray that all power in one subject leads to failure or instability. It is important to split power into three different parts because it prevents one person or group from becoming too powerful, consequently, it will rise to be oppressive and take away rights from the people. Other affects of division of powers are improved quality of decision making. It is so because there are 3 branches to check and balance and make further review of government decisions and bills.

Constitution Question responses
3. Would the founding fathers agree with the amendments ratified after 1787?
-Yes, I think so. Since the amendments made by governments after 1787 were solely for the common good and welfare of the nation and the people, the founding fathers would be statisfied and happy with the changes. Also the amendments that were created were based on the Constitution, which were the core values of America, were created by the founding fathers. Thus the founding fathers would approve.
1. What were the citizens' reactions to the Constitution right after it was established?
- I would not definitively know, however i can presume that the people of the newly created government would be excited, hopeful and secure. the citizens were oppressed by Britain and lived a very harsh colonist life, thus, United States of America gave them new hope and life for them to live up to.

American system of separation and powers and checks and balances
American system of separation and powers and checks and balances is like a BMW's suspension technology.
The suspensions distribute powers, weight, g-forces received to separate axles and wheels. Just like how the power is separated in our government system.
Secondly, the suspension mechanism electronic chips allow the suspensions to correct any errors, such as when one wheel could have excess amount of forces or weight, then the chip sends the signals to distribute it evenly so the powers and forces are balanced.

Federalist paper no.10
1.Should property be more equally distributed to avoid factional disputes?
2.Who can judge if an idea is for the good of society?
3.Can there be too many factions?
4is the a better way to distribute property
5.is there a way to make all citizens happy by the land distribution?
"No man is allowed to be a judge in his own cause, because his interest would certainly bias his judgment, and, not improbably, corrupt his integrity."
I agree to the fullest with this quote because we would always defend ourselves. if we were our own judge, we would be blinded by our own desires and selfishness to make fair, justifiable and equal judgements.
"The instability, injustice, and confusion introduced into the public councils, have, in truth, been the mortal diseases under which popular governments have everywhere perished"
-I was amused by this quote because it shows timeless crimes of a government. the corruption, bribery and lies unfortunately co-exist with a government. I believe that a perfect government would be moralistic, ethical and clean.
"The influence of factious leaders may kindle a flame within their particular states, but will be unable to spread a general conflagration through the other states."
-I chose this becuaes this is very crucial to the core values of this nation. it portrays why the new constitution would allow for a large and diverse country, [individual states with it's own rights]
Every shilling which they overburden the inferior number is a shilling saved to their own pockets.
-I liked this quote because it portrays the corruption and mismanagement of taxing in a metaphoric way. it can be also implied to modern government, such as if a government over-taxes its citizens, the money will government's money.
"There are two methods of curing the mischiefs of faction: the one, by removing its causes; the other, by controlling its effects." - This stood out to me because it seemed too simple and generalized. To elaborate, i think that the methods that James Madison stated werent specific enough for all circumstances of factions. However, i believe that removing the causes and controing the effects are the most basic, effective, and efficient way to defeat factions.

Federalist Paper No.51
Q's.
1. How do you control the powers of groups in society from getting too powerful?
2. What are some pros and cons of the Federalist Paper #51.
3. Why shouldn't government be independent?
4. How is justice the end of government?
5.Why is it so important to split power into three different parts?
Quotes:
1. "In a free government the security for civil rights must be the same as that for religious rights."
-i chose this because this sets a strong foundation of separation of religion and government and protect citizens of U.S from being oppressed or harmed because of their religion.
2. "In republican government, the legislative authority necessarily predominates."
-i found this intriguing and contradicting. the quote clearly states that the legislative authority is the most powerful.
the dictionary definition of "predominates" is : Be the strongest or main element; be greater in number or amount.
Thus, by this definition James Madison is stating that out of 3 branches of the government, the
legislative branch is the dominating power. However, i believe that he meant otherwise,
because the founding fathers' ultimate goal was to create a government that has equal powers among branches.
3. "If a majority be united by a common interest, the rights of the minority will be insecure."
-i think that this statement is very crucial to America's core values of liberty, justice and freedom. Because the quote shows that even the least powerful person has a voice and rights in the land of freedom.
4. "The different governments will control each other, at the same time that each will be controlled by itself." I like this quote because it portrays the division of powers between the state and the federal government. also it highlights that each of the state and the federal has enough powers to have rights and certain powers but not too much to be able to become too powerful.
5. "It is equally evident, that the members of each department should be as little dependent as possible on those of the others."
-I chose this because it gives the sense of responsibilities to each branches of the government. it shows that one branch of the government should fulfill their own work and responsiblities, not by the major help from other branches.
